Real-World Experience Over
Textbook Theory

Dedicated to the craft. Committed to the profession.

You’re a licensed land surveyor juggling field work, office deadlines, and your CE requirements.

You’re a licensed land surveyor juggling field work, office deadlines, and continuing education requirements. Every surveyor understands the routine. We take CE courses to maintain our licenses, often selecting whatever courses are available just to meet the requirement. But when the course is finished, an honest question remains: Did it actually make you a better surveyor?

Many continuing education programs cost valuable time, money, and lost billable hours. Too often they deliver information that is technically correct—but quickly forgotten.

Why This Matters To YOU

01.

Protecting the Profession

It protects not only the public, but also our own profession’s standards. When we learn from real scenarios—boundary conflicts, courtroom battles, catastrophic mistakes—we understand the responsibilities placed on us.

02.

Avoiding Trouble

It keeps surveyors out of trouble by hearing the experiences, lessons, and decisions of others. You don’t have to make every mistake yourself. Learn from those who’ve already been there.

03.

Sharpening Judgment

The difference between a routine survey and a career-ending disaster often comes down to one overlooked detail. These lessons sharpen your judgment so you catch it before it’s too late.

“Through Survey Life CE’s historical, experience-driven lessons learned by others, we listen to it happen to them, and remember. We learn what to watch for, what to question, and what to never take for granted.”
— DAN PROVOLT, PLS

In case we haven't met...

My name is Dan Provolt.

I am a Professional Land Surveyor, business owner, and continuing education instructor with more than 40 years of experience in the surveying profession, including over 30 years as a licensed surveyor.

Throughout my career I have operated a private surveying practice and worked on a wide range of projects including:

• Boundary retracement surveys
• Complex property disputes
• Expert witness and litigation support
• Large acreage and rural land projects
• Land development surveys and Subdivision work

Like many surveyors who have spent decades in the profession, I have seen the consequences of both good and bad decisions in the field.

I have watched surveyors defend their work successfully in court, and I have also seen careers damaged by avoidable mistakes.

Those experiences shaped the philosophy behind SurveyLifeCE.

Continuing education should not simply repeat what you already know. It should prepare you for the situations that test your professional judgment.

Our Commitment to the Profession

SurveyLifeCE was built with a simple goal:
to provide continuing education for land surveyors that reflects the real responsibilities of the profession.

Every course is developed from the perspective of a practicing Professional Land Surveyor who understands the challenges surveyors face in the field, in the office, and sometimes in the courtroom.

The lessons are designed to strengthen professional judgment, reinforce sound surveying principles, and help surveyors navigate the complex situations that arise in real projects.

SurveyLifeCE courses are intended to meet continuing education standards while also providing practical knowledge that surveyors can carry forward into their daily work.

If a course does not make you think differently about the profession or better prepare you for the decisions surveyors must make, then it has not accomplished its purpose.
